Sunday's Coming

Good morning, from the RGV!

This has been another great week.  The man I led to the Lord a few weeks ago went home to heaven this week. We can rejoice and praise the Lord today because he is home with the Lord. If we were here for no one else but him, it is truly worth it to be here.

My sermon this week is "  Praising God",  something I think we don't do enough of.  Even in trials, we need to praise Him.

There was a preacher that was trying to sell his horse.
A potential buyer came to the church for a test ride.
"Before you start" the preacher said, "you should know that this horse only responds to church talk. Go is "praise the Lord" and stop is "amen.""
So the man on the horse says, "Praise the Lord," and the horse starts to trot. The man again says, "Praise the Lord," and the horse starts to gallop.
Suddenly there is a cliff right in front of the horse and the man yells "Amen!!!" The horse stops just at the edge of the cliff.
Relieved, the man wipes the sweat from his brow and says, "Praise the Lord!"

Psalm 100:  "Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth.  Serve the Lord with gladness; come before Him with joyful songs. Know that the Lord is God. It is He who made us, and we are His; we are His people, the sheep of His pasture." "Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise; give thanks to Him and praise His name. For the Lord is good and His love endures forever; His faithfulness continues through all generations."
This is what the Psalmist is saying, "Suddenly you realize that God has been so good to you that you can’t keep it inside any more. From the depths of your being, you shout your joy unto the Lord."

We need to live our lives so others can see the joy in us because we know God is good, all the time and all the time God is good. Rejoice and Praise the Lord today!

LaVon and I are truly thankful to God for each of you. Thank you for your continual support and interest in our ministry by investing yourself in many ways as partners with us: by prayer, e-mails, phone calls and your financial gifts. Without any of these we could not continue what God has called us to do and that is to share the living water with the world through the RV ministry.

Have a great day, love you, pass it on.

Sunday's Coming

Good morning, from the RGV (Rio Grande Valley).
We have had a great week, the weather is perfect, had a little rain for the first time since we have been here and seems to have settled the dust. We are still meeting new people every day by making home visits or just chance meetings ( God's appointments) while walking around. Our being here, we know, is what God wants so we try to be obedient and every day I make a choice that I will love it here and do what He has called us to do.
My sermon direction this week seems to be headed toward Obedience Brings Blessings.”  I read a related story that I like...

Obedience, not understanding:
When Billy Graham first started preaching, he was confused and had some doubts about God’s Word. While praying one morning, he got down on one knee at this monument and said, “Lord, I don’t understand all that is in this book, and there are a lot of different passages that I have my doubts about…. But, You say it’s Your Word, so by faith, I’m going to accept it as my authority and live it.” That prayer proved to be the turning point of his life! From that moment on God began to use Him in amazing ways.
I believe if we are obedient, God will use us and bless us. He has been faithful to us in this.  So ask God what He wants you to do, then do it and watch what He does.

Sunday's Coming

Good morning, from the RGV (Rio Grande Valley).
Well, it finally happened.... it got cold.  Cold for here anyway and I know, not as cold as where you are. I did venture out for a while yesterday and talked with the few brave souls. Our ministry here is needed.  There are many non believers and people hurting in many different ways. My sermon this Sunday will be on “Listening to God.”  Not only listening but, claiming the promises He has for us. I read a story today I want to share.
Illustration: A man found dead next to a dumpster. As they looked in his pockets for his identification, they discovered several checks. They were worth more than a thousand dollars, but they did him no good. He never cashed them to receive their value.
As we read God's word, we find promise after promise all having value to the believer, but we must go to God and claim His promises to meet our needs. He is bound by His word, so we can go to Him and ask. Nothing is so small that He is not concerned and nothing is to large that He cannot solve it.
James 1:5-6 We limit God by the limitations we place on Him.
ask of God, who giveth to all liberally and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.6But let him ask in faith, nothing doubting: for he that doubteth is like the surge of the sea driven by the wind and tossed.
So this week, whatever is a need in your life, go to Him and ask. Jesus said “Whatever you ask the Father in My name He will give you.”

Good morning,

Greetings from the RGV (Rio Grande Valley).

This week, we have spent a lot of time visiting people who have been in the hospital. Almost always, someone here is going to or just coming back from the doctor or the hospital.  It could be depressing if you let it.

My sermon for this week is “How to start each day.” Psalm 5: 1-3 No matter what is going on in our life, we need to take it to the Lord in prayer each morning.

When we lose the morning we lose the day.
When we lose the day, we forget to pray.
When we forget to pray, we lose the way.

The problem ahead of us is never as great as the Power behind us.

How to Get Into Heaven

A man dies and meets St. Peter at the Pearly Gates. Peter says to the man, "Here's how it works. You need to have one hundred points to get into heaven. You tell me about all the good things you've done. They are all worth a certain number of points. If your total is one hundred or more, you can come in."

"Well," says the man. "I was happily married to the same woman for 52 years. I never looked at another woman. I was attentive and loved her dearly."

"That's great," says St. Peter. "That'll be two points."

"Hmmm," says the man. "This is going to be harder than I thought. Well, I attended church regularly, volunteered my time and tithed faithfully."

"Wonderful," says St. Peter, "That's worth another point."

"One point!" says the man. "Okay, okay. I was involved with a prison ministry for twenty-five years. I went into the prison, at least monthly, and shared Jesus with them."

"Wow!" says St. Peter. "That's another two points!"

"Only two points!" says the man. "At this rate, it'll be only by the grace of God that'll I'll ever get into this place."

"Bingo!" says St. Peter. "That's one hundred points! Come on in."
