Sunday's Coming

Good morning,

We are here at Kerrville, Texas, Johnson Creek RV Resort and feeling very blessed.

I urge each of you to be in prayer for all those that have been effected by these terrible storms. My heart goes out to those who lost love ones. I wish I had that great word to make it all better to make joy return. I was reading this morning and I came upon this:

Real joy does not come from favorable economic conditions, being accepted by society, or by owning a luxury car. These bring only temporary happiness at best. Joy comes from one thing alone: a sure knowledge that you are saved through the death and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ. Real joy comes from knowing that your sins are forgiven, that you are in right standing with God, and that He is working all things together for your eternal good, preparing an eternal home for you.

"Rejoice always" (1 Thessalonians 5:16).

Let me leave you today on the lighter side.

Hellman's Mayo*

Most people don't know that back in 1912, Hellmann's mayonnaise was manufactured in England. In fact, the Titanic was carrying 12,000 jars of the condiment scheduled for delivery on May 5th in Vera Cruz, Mexico, which was to be the next port of call for the great ship after its stop in New York.  True fact.

This would have been the largest single shipment of mayonnaise ever delivered to Mexico. But as we know, the great ship did not make it to New York. The ship hit an iceberg and sank, and the cargo was forever lost.

The people of Mexico, who were crazy about mayonnaise and were eagerly awaiting its delivery, were disconsolate at the loss. Their anguish was so great that they declared a National Day of Mourning, which they still observe to this day.

The National Day of Mourning occurs each year on May 5th and is known, of course, as Sinko De Mayo.
